Whoops. Just fixed a bug I introduced last week that made the Report News link invisible to new chapters. Sorry about that. The link is now right there on your front page. If you notice additional bugs please click on my name and message me with details.

One more thing I was thinking about this weekend. I know there are a number of chapters seeking members in specific areas, but very few tools for advertising this fact. If you chapter is seeking members go ahead and submit news about it to the Seventh Column/Bungie.net sites and we'll see what we can do to help.

We've been doing these big updates to the Halo site pretty regularly every Monday, but we got off to a late start last week due to the holiday. Today's update will also be postponed until later in the week. Jay has some more hilarious voice actor outtakes coming your way though, so stay tuned!

Just fixed a minor bug that has been bugging me. Cancelled events will no longer show in the events list on your chapter's front page. They'll still show on your events page, however, but with text in red that says [Cancelled].

We've been watching all the chapters, paying special attention to the ones comprised of long time fans. Looks like the HBO Junkies' (
/perlbin/blam.pl?file=/fanclub/20) first LAN party was a success. Louis Wu posted a writeup in the Bungie.org Halo forum,

Well, it wasn't actually a bug, but it has been fixed nonetheless. Some of you noticed that existing events sometimes disappear from the list when you post a new event. That's because the list was only looking out 60 days past your first event. So, for example, if you had an event today and another in 3 months, the second wouldn't show. I've increased the limit to 120 days. Update: The events list now shows events up to a full year in the future.

I've finally made a change to the news system that I've been itching to make for quite some time. First, I've combined each chapter's Main and News pages so that news stories are now displayed right on your front page, divided by day. In the process I've added a View Old News link that allows you (finally!) to view, well, your chapter's old news. This news format is what's been in place on the front Bungie.net page for a bit. I've also gone ahead and added it to the Seventh Column and Tru7h and Recon front pages so you can access old news and old Top Stories. Oh yeah, I've also tweaked the chapter default color scheme to make it more like the main fanclub page. Enjoy!

We've added a new section to the Halo Tru7h and Recon site, called Outtakes. This section features some amusing (and a few disturbing) screenshots that Dave collected showing various visual "hiccups" discovered while the game was still in development. It also includes a round of entertaining audio outtakes that Jay the Younger was kind enough to supply.

Apparently no one has checked the new fan club chapter submissions since I left on vacation. Yikes, that was a long list. I've gone through though and approved a bunch, and rejected a bunch more because they didn't mention anything about LAN play in any way, shape or form.

It's been mighty quiet around here, but things should return to normal pretty quickly. Dave and Peter have worked up some new material for the sites. We need to put some polish on it before it's posted. I've been out of touch, so be sure to send us your news and events. In the meantime I'll see if I can catch up on happenings in the community.
