Bungie-Made Foundry Variants in Favorites

Some Bungie-made variations of Foundry arrive in Favorites this week.

Before heading out for the Holidays, a few Bungie guys wrapped up work on their own variations of Foundry via the Forge, those maps have been put into Bungie Favorites for your enjoyment.

Magic Manufacturer Tom Doyle on "Anvil":

Anvil is a slayer and team slayer map best suited for two to eight players. Although its primarily set up for slayer, it also lends itself to ctf, assault and territory modes. Climb the rocket tower or sniper duel from the catwalks to gain an upper hand over the opposition. Tactical players should enable BR starts on this one.

Multiplayer Designer Lars Bakken on "Deathpit":

This is an old school deathmatch map specifically designed for 1 v 1 battles, but it also works in a 4 player FFA. Controlling the power weapons is key to survival. The Rocket spawns in the center high walkway, and the sword spawns down below. Each side has a shotgun and grenades. At its simplest, it is a maze filled with tight corridors, and lots of action. I hope you enjoy it.

Mission Designer Dan Miller on "Pac-Man":

In this parody/homage we built the level to be as faithful to the original "Pac Man" map as possible, complete with two-way teleporters on the sides and even the four "Power Pellets" in the corners! This infection variant allows one person to play as "Pac Man" with Gravity Hammer, the rest are ghosts with Swords. Pacman's goal is to get to each of the four corners and grab a Power Pellet floating in the air (look for covenant equipment holders on the ground). Once he's obtained a power pellet, he'll become invincible for a short amount of time and be able to eat up the "ghosts." 4-6 players recommended.

Alkaline Prodigy and MDK 2002 contributed to the creation of the map and gametype.

Blank Versions of the Heroic Map Pack Maps on Bungie Favorites

Looking for emptied versions of Standoff, Rat's Nest and Foundry so that you can begin creating your version of these maps? Look no further.

Bungie.net user Chevmeister, on his own volition, clearned out each of the maps from the Heroic Map Pack and made those files available for download in his File Share. We've taken his files and placed them in Bungie Favorites where they can be downloaded directly in-game or if you're logged in to Bungie.net, you can download them to your Xbox 360 the next time you boot up Halo 3 by clicking "Download to Halo 3."

NOTE: If you haven't purchased the Halo 3 Heroic Map Pack, trying to download the free "empty" maps (or any other Forge creations) from Favorites will not result in you magically acquiring the maps.

Foundry Sketchpad

Away from your Xbox 360 with no way to play Halo 3 and Forge something on the Foundry? Here's work-friendly way to avoid doing actual work and do some paper drawing planning for your Forge creation.

Away from the comfy confines of your 360 gaming room? Stuck at work with images of Foundry blocks dancing in your head? Stosh, one of our web dudes, put together a quick PDF overhead view of Foundry so that you can put pen to paper and brainstorm your creation. In the lower left corner of the PDF file are a couple of box sizes (and the approximate size of a player) for reference. Click the link below and print out some copies and get to work.

When you finish your Foundry creations, head over the Official Foundry Forge Thread on our forums, follow the thread's directions and share the fruits of your creative harvest.

Download/View the PDF here (if your computer requires software to view a pdf, Adobe Acrobat reader or any number of programs are able to view that file type).

Journey's End ViDOC Available on Bungie.net

The final ViDOC, Journey's End, which debuted last week on Xbox Live Marketplace, is now available for download here at Bungie.net.

As folks gear up for the Holiday season, we’re getting a lot of consumers coming into Halo 3, completely unfamiliar with the series. This ViDOC is actually for those people and is designed to bring them up to speed on the characters, scenarios and events that have transpired up to and including the beginning of Halo 3. If you’re already invested in the Halo universe, much of this ViDOC will seem a little elementary, so be forewarned before downloading a hefty file. The ViDOC does however, do a nice job of summarizing our expansive and occasionally baroque universe and should give newbies a nice jumping off point for their journey into Halo.

Here's a bunch of file sizes and types.

New ViDOC available on Xbox Live Marketplace

The past is the new future. "Journey's End," a ViDOC tracing the events leading up to Halo 3 is now available on Xbox Live.

"Journey's End," the final Halo 3 ViDOC is now available on Xbox Live Marketplace. "Journey's End" focuses on the story leading up to the events that unfold in Halo 3 -- there aren't any major Halo 3 spoilers in the ViDOC. However, if you haven't played the Campaign yet or are expecting it as a present for the holiday season, our Marty-esque advice is to unplug from the Internet and not watch the ViDOC until you've played the game. We'll have web versions available shortly.
